Lupine flowers grew in my grandmother’s yard at her house in Vermont. Just before the house passed out of our family, I managed to dig up some lupine and transplant it to our yard in Massachusetts. I took this photo in the spring of 2025 after they took root!
I love lupine for many reasons: some are purple (my favorite color); the purple ones can also be perceived as blue; they are beautifully upright, and they grow in spiral arrangements. Perception, uprightness, and spirals recur as themes in Alexander technique work.
Embodiment for me is all about coming home to yourself, finding ease, joy and presence, and feeling comfortable in your own skin.
Your Bodyworks, in fact your whole self works! You are doing the best you can in this moment, and we could all use some support in making changes in the direction of our potential. Compassion and self-compassion played significant roles in my own healing journey, and are qualities I seek to embody as a teacher.
