FM Alexander’s Main Works
Constructive Conscious Control of the Individual (1923)
The Use of the Self (1932)
The “Evolution of the Technique” chapter details how Alexander developed the technique, and mentions the main concepts he discovered. This is the first book I would recommend reading if you are interested in diving into Alexander’s original writings.
The Universal Constant in Living (US, 1941), (UK, 1942)
Articles and Lectures (Compilation published 1995)
Introductory Books
Body Learning by Michael Gelb
A good general introduction, concise and easy to read.
Body, Breath and Being by Carolyn Nichols
Another general introduction, a bit more detailed, easy to read with nice illustrations and supplementary material.
Back Trouble by Deborah Caplan
A little older, written by an American physical therapist and Alexander teacher. Very straightforward language and images.
